Are you installing new cabinets in your kitchen, and now you're ready to place the hardware on them? If so, you'll want to make sure that each piece of hardware is evenly spaced out when placing them on the doors and drawers. Here are some tips that will help you do it.

Purchase A Cabinet Hardware Jig

The best way to get his job done is by purchasing a kitchen cabinet jig. This is a device that assists with placing the hardware in the exact place every single time. The way the device works is that you set up the jig with the exact placement of where the holes need to be for the hardware. You use physical hardware that you have on hand to line up the drill holes that need to be made. You then lock the location of those holes in place.

You'll then need to take some measurement to make sure that the jib is hanging from the top of a drawer or side of a cabinet door in the right position. This involves taking measurements of the drawer's width or door's height and marking the center points on all three sides of the tool. You then place the jig so that the center of the tool is at your markings, and you know that the one or two holes for the hardware are at the proper depth into the door. Drill through the guides on the jig and the holes will be correct every time.

Create A Template

Your other option is to create a template for where you are going to create your drill holes. This can be done in a variety of ways, but the best way to do it is to take a large piece of paper or cardboard that is the exact shape of your door or drawer. Take some measurements to verify that the markings for the holes are center and in the place that you want them to go,, and then tape the template to the door or drawer.

Do not make the mistake of drilling through the template. Instead, mark the holes with a pencil, and then take measurements to ensure that they are in the right spot. If everything shows that the markings are in the right place, then you can use a drill to make the holes in your cabinets. It takes some time, but it's the best way to ensure that each hole is in the right spot before drilling.
